Student Project, 2024
In a collaborative effort, my team embarked on the ambitious task of revitalizing a defunct magazine, injecting it with style and a cohesive organizational system. Our goal was to unify the publication under a distinctive brand identity that resonated with its audience.
We began by creating a comprehensive style guide that meticulously outlined the use of typography, color schemes, photography styles, editorial content guidelines, and grid layouts. This framework ensured consistency and elevated the magazine’s overall aesthetic.
Personally, I took charge of designing the masthead, as well as crafting the front and back covers. These elements served as the visual cornerstone of our revamped magazine, reflecting our commitment to striking design and editorial excellence. To showcase the magazine’s potential, we produced a sample special edition titled "After Dark: Celebrating Queer Artists in the Underground Music Scene."
As part of this edition, I designed two versions of an article highlighting Wreckno: one adhering strictly to our established design system, and another with creative freedom to emphasize the article as a cover story. This dual approach allowed us to demonstrate flexibility within our cohesive design framework while maintaining visual harmony and impact.
