Ongoing Professional Project, 2026
BAD Day Music & Arts Festival is an annual celebration of creativity hosted by the Brooklyn Arts District in Wilmington, NC. Having contributed collateral work in the festival's inaugural year, this year I took on a much broader scope: evolving what had been a simple typed wordmark into a fully realized, ownable brand system. That meant defining a cohesive color palette, establishing type hierarchies, developing a suite of logo variants, and codifying image treatments. These elements function cohesively in service of a visual identity that feels playful and art-forward, a little edgy but genuinely family-friendly. Every decision was grounded in a handcrafted sensibility that honors the spirit of the arts, and in a distinctly local character rooted in Wilmington's creative community.
With the brand foundation in place, I developed the festival's 2026 key art– A screenprint-esque crowd scene from last year's celebration with colorful, handcut-style sunbeams radiating from the festival's circular badge logo, and playfully unconventional typographic layout. I then adapted this visual system across an extensive range of media, from print and digital advertising in dozens of sizes to a fully custom responsive website. The project is ongoing: closer to showtime, I'll be extending the system into event signage, credentials, and merchandise, so stay tuned!
